Strong Bones. Strong Bodies. Strong Futures.

Evidence-based movement for lifelong wellness

Most women don't think about bone density until they're diagnosed with osteopenia or osteoporosis. By then, they're often asking, "What should I be doing now?"

The truth is, we should be building strength long before a diagnosis ever arrives.

Research consistently shows that resistance training is one of the most effective tools we have for preserving bone density, maintaining muscle mass, improving balance, reducing fall risk, and supporting long-term independence. While it's never too late to start—and we regularly see women in their 60s, 70s, and beyond make remarkable gains—the strongest foundation is built when strength training becomes a lifelong practice.

That's why our Bone Density & Strength Class isn't just for women with osteopenia or osteoporosis. It's for every woman who wants to age well.

Co-taught by Kim Robins, Certified Pilates Instructor, and Darcy Vanderbie-Pace, Physical Therapist, this small-group class combines current research with individualized coaching. We focus on foundational strength movements such as squats, deadlifts, overhead presses, carries, and balance training, teaching participants how to move safely, efficiently, and confidently under load.

One thing the science is very clear about: bones respond to challenge.

Endless repetitions with light weights may have their place, but building and maintaining bone density requires progressively loading the body with enough resistance to stimulate change. For women with osteopenia or osteoporosis, current research supports strength training at least twice per week as part of a comprehensive bone health program.

That doesn't mean walking into a gym and lifting the heaviest weight you can find.

It means learning proper form, progressing appropriately, and gradually building toward weights that are challenging for you. Our goal is to help participants work toward loads that feel substantial—weights that require effort and focus while maintaining excellent technique.

Form comes first. Always.

We move deliberately. We watch carefully. We coach continuously. We don't rush through workouts or sacrifice quality for intensity. Every participant receives individualized feedback and modifications based on their body, experience level, injuries, and goals.

In fact, many of the women who join us tell us the same thing:

"I know I should be lifting weights, but I don't trust myself to do it safely."

That's exactly why this class exists.

Darcy and I continue to study the latest research on strength training, bone health, balance, and fall prevention, and we regularly evolve our programming based on what we're learning. This is not a stagnant class. It is an ongoing commitment to bringing evidence-based training to the women we serve.

And if you're worried about injuries, aches, limitations, or a diagnosis that makes you feel cautious, you're in good company. Between us, we've spent years helping people navigate complex movement challenges. We know how to modify. We know how to adapt. We know how to meet you where you are.

We're not scared of your limitations.

You don't need to be either.

Ladies, you need to lift weights.

Not because you're trying to become a bodybuilder. Not because you're trying to look a certain way. But because strength matters. Bone health matters. Independence matters.

Whether you're 35 or 75, the best time to start building strength is now.

We've got your back.

Each session is led by certified instructors trained in bone health protocols. You will learn proper alignment, breathing techniques, and how to progress safely. Classes are held at our Boulder studio at 1800 30th St #204, where we create a supportive environment for every body. Try our introductory offer and experience the difference of Pilates for bone density and metabolic fitness.
